Very nice indeed.

So Raphie, are you just using the Octopre as your front end?

Posted by Raphie on Nov-20-2010 19:39:

the MR816x is my frontend, the Octopre is on it's ADAT input

so i've all my outboard mapped 1:1 as external FX and External Instruments in Cubase.

so MR816x
input 1 SE electronics 2200t
input 2 sennheiser 870 mic
input<>output 3/4 Art
input<>output 5/6 SPL
input<>output 7/8 Distressors
spdif coax out > BMC-2
Adat in > Octopre Dynamik MKII

Octopre:
input 1/2 Voyager
input 3/4 P08 stereo 1
input 5/6 P08 Stereo Alt

In this way i can drag and drop my fx around like VST FX and deal with my synths as if they were VSTi's
and the CC121 is controlling nearly all functions in Cubase by either dedicated buttons or the AI wheel

genelec 8020b
sm pro audio inano
propellerhead reason 4
logic pro 9
ableton live 8

quite happy with it all, i dont need anything more.
could use a bigger screen, will fix that when im not having it all on the dinner table

Posted by Zak McKracken on Mar-28-2011 10:11:

the dinner table above had terrible resonance so im back on the floor with my ghetto setup lol:

Macbook Pro
Echo Audiofire 4
SM Pro Audio iNano
Genelec 8020
Ableton Live
Logic Pro
Reason

Sorry to hear it man. I don't envy you, I just couldn't work like that.

Can you not build a shelf against one of the walls and plonk all the kit there. It's not idea but it's got to be better than sitting on the floor to produce lol.

There is a solution for the resonance:

I mean I think it's a bad idea to work on the floor. That's just not right.

so got my new carpet and chair and built some new huge Basstraps

im gonna switch the low TV table to a desk once i find the perfect one. but its difficult to find, i want it to be heavy oak, 150cm*55cm and with rooms for computer on both sides. Ikea has one but its made of light weight cheap mdf which will resonate like a mofo (have quite some experience with reso lol).

I know mopads works great against resonance but with the genelecs there included stands that works pretty well actually, but a big dinnertable plate will resonate no matter what you put on it. It was just for a test. This is all temporary too, im producing in my couch most of the time now, with long firewire cable to the soundcard on the floor lol. but to get a real good listen its better to sit on the floor directly infront of the speakers.

this is more how it looks everyday:

a few things at home, everything else scattered around since i moved my computer to my living room for a bit so i could watch back to the future while working on a new project

the more juicy part of it, one of the two rooms, not even half the synths were moved in this room for the project. back room is more of a mixing place while this is a tracking room. home away from home:

other synths in the back: sh101, oberheim 4, bunch of retro korgs and rolands. 808, 909, 505, 707, 606. no 303 yet . the moog in the pic is the original used on beach boys good vibrations, sounds fucking awesome. not shown in the pic, lots but behind the trident is an MCI and ATR tapes

Hang on, one fo those look like the engineering room at MI...? Least they have that desk in the room I saw

Posted by jupiterone on Mar-28-2011 21:13:

i assure you i'm not taking pics random pics from MI to post here

the boards a trident tri-mix. MI had an SSL 4000g, a baby ssl and a neve vx. not sure how it is there now. their outboard gear wasn't great either, not sure when you went dude

I know, I didn't think that would be a the case but I just remembered the desk in one of the rooms I saw looking like that and it must have been the old baby SSL. In fairness you're looks in way better condition. The mixing/engineering room at MI was pretty mashed up as I remember.

So are you saying all that's at your pad? or is that at a project studio? easily $100k worth of kit there and I'm not even getting in to the vintage synths. The two racks I can see are worth $20k alone.

Serious stuff there.
